II. Histories

Among the more than 400 war-related works we discovered, violence against Jews appears in about 60. Where evident, it depicts various phases of the Holocaust: pogroms, deportation, humiliation, ghettoization, mass murder in camps, and killings of those in hiding.

These objects began to appear just after the war; they are still being made today. We exhibit some of them accompanied by documents that likely influenced their creators.

In this room we present three original works, from three different decades. They represent the beginning, middle, and end of the 70-year period that separates us from World War II. Perhaps they can help us understand what has changed in how the Holocaust is viewed in Poland.
